By sharing our experiences with one another, we can help alleviate one of the worst parts about being permanently-sidelined . . . feeling like nobody really “gets it” and that there’s not a natural place to talk about the internal struggle past those first few months.
No judgement. No pity. Just former athletes who can empathize with what you are going through because they’ve been through it themselves. People who are available to be a sounding board for you and what you’re going through. And because they’ve also experienced a medically-forced exit from sport and have come through the other side, they can also share insights from their own personal experience to help encourage you on as you work to make that transition.
